There’s a lot more in Sumida Ward than Tokyo Skytree. Beyond that, there’s the traditional and historical side of things that have existed since the Edo period.

1️⃣ Aizome Museum: the craft of indigo dyeing that has been passed down generations. Now you can make your own handkerchief and learn about the process (pic 1-3)

2️⃣ Oshiage Yoshikatsu: a local restaurant opened by a local, serving produce from all over Tokyo. The owner has been in the restaurant business since 1994 and wants to provide the freshest Tokyo produce in forms of Okonomiyaki and Monjayaki (pic 4)

3️⃣ Kirakira Tachibana street: established in 1931, this street gives off Showa retro vibes. The community’s togetherness can be felt by the warm store owners (pics 5-10)
