Ryogoku is a place where you can deeply experience the history of sumo. From watching live matches at Ryogoku Kokugikan to exploring sumo stables and museums, this area is filled with sumo culture.
But that’s not all—Ryogoku is also home to historical sites, Edo-period attractions, and delicious Chanko nabe, the signature meal of sumo wrestlers. Whether you're a sumo fan or just curious about Japan’s traditions, Ryogoku is the perfect place to visit!" There is also a big chance you might bond into Sumo wrestlers here!
Locations you can visit:
Ryogoku Edo NOREN – An Edo-style dining and shopping complex with traditional restaurants, including chanko nabe.
Ryogoku Kokugikan – Japan’s top sumo arena, hosting grand tournaments and a sumo museum.
Chanko Kirishima – A chanko nabe restaurant run by a former sumo wrestler, famous for its rich broth. The small hot spot set meals I had this time is only available on weekdays during lunch hours and is not served on weekends or on weekdays during sumo tournaments at the Kokugikan.
Former Yasuda Garden – A serene Japanese garden where you can enjoy overlooking Tokyo Skytree and maple leaves together.
Ryogoku Edo NOREN –
