Once in a lifetime experience in Ryogoku

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you have to witness with your own eyes! I was fortunate to be able to see a live sumo tournament in person!
Sumo is more than just a sport—it’s a deeply rooted tradition that began as a ritual offering to the gods in Shintoism.
Even today, it retains sacred practices like purifying the ring and throwing salt to ward off evil spirits. Sumo wrestlers (rikishi) are seen as guardians of Japan’s culture, embodying discipline and honor in every aspect of their lives.
With over 1,000 years of history, sumo evolved from ancient rituals to a cultural and entertainment phenomenon.
Unlike other combat sports, sumo has no weight classes, making matches unpredictable and intense.
Today, sumo is gaining international popularity, reflecting Japan’s rich history and spiritual traditions.
There are six annual sumo tournaments across Japan,
happen during Jan, March, May, July, Sep, and Nov. The tickets can be really difficult to get! Remember to buy the ticket in advance.

相撲不僅僅是一項運動，更是一種根深蒂固的傳統，最初其實是作為神道儀式的一部分獻給神明。即使在今天，相撲依然保留著一些神聖的儀式，比如淨化比賽場地跟撒鹽以驅邪。

相撲有著超過一千年的歷史。相撲選手（力士）被視為日本文化的守護者，他們在生活的方面面都表現出紀律。相撲跟其他的格鬥運動不同，相撲沒有體重級別限制，所以比較小隻且體重輕的相撲選手也會遇到比自己體積大很多且體重很重的選手
相撲比賽非常激烈而且一瞬間就會結束了！大家來看真的不能札眼睛！

日本每年舉行六場相撲大賽，分別在1月、3月、5月、7月、9月和11月舉行。門票真的是一票難得, 想看的話記得一定要先提前購票唷！
