🌊 💙 HOKUSAI MUSEUM DATE 💙🌊

The Sumida Hokusai Museum, located in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, is an art museum honoring the ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, famous for masterpieces like The Great Wave off Kanagawa and Red Fuji. Hokusai and Sumida actually have a very special connection, as he was born there.

The permanent exhibition features full scale high-definition replicas (for conservation purposes) of Hokusai’s artworks. There are multilingual panels and videos that offer detailed insights into the artist, his life, works, and woodblock prints.

There are also special temporary exhibitions which show Hokusai’s original artworks.
Currently there’s a special exhibition called “Hokusai and the Samurai World’’ going on until February 25th, 2024. This exhibition features Hokusai’s works of people and real samurai from a long time ago to the Edo period.

The building’s exterior is looks quite futuristic, and you can even see Tokyo Skytree from the 3rd floor (pic 5) !

📍Sumida Hokusai Museum is located in within a 5 minute walk from Ryogoku Station (Toei Line) Exit A3.
🔖 Admission Fee is ¥400 for the permanent exhibition (varies for special exhibitions)
❗️All artworks featured at the museum are by Hokusai himself.
