An easy 5-minute walk from Ryogoku station, on Tokyo’s east side, the Japanese Sword Museum and the adjoined Kyu Yasuda Gardens hold their place as a must-see for all Japanophiles. The first floor of the museum is completely free of charge - as are the exquisite gardens - and only the museum’s third floor requires an admission fee; 1000 yen (approx. 7 USD) affords you an audience with the spirit of samurai.
