If you’re new to watching sumo and are unsure about what to expect, don’t worry!
Even if sports aren’t your thing, witnessing a sumo match is an exclusive cultural encounter found only in Japan. The rules are simple: step out of the ring or fall to the ground, and you lose. As a first-timer, the whole atmosphere was amazing, feeling more like a festival than just another serious sports competition.

There are 6 grand sumo tournaments per year, 3 of which take place in Tokyo. In January, May, and September, grand sumo tournaments are held at Ryogoku Kokugikan, Sumida, Tokyo.
You can still catch the final tournaments in January from the 25th to the 28th at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Sumida, Tokyo!
