大相撲一月場所 vol.3（Sumo)

🇲🇽 Conocimos a Hiro Morita. El es el presentador de Sumo Prime Time en el canal oficial de sumo en YouTube en inglés. También pudimos conocer al ex luchador de sumo Wakakoyu, actualmente conocido como Shiranui Oyakata, entrenador de establo. Fue muy divertido.

Aqui les dejo un dato interestante. Según la tradición del sumo, los luchadores de sumo no usan sus nombres reales. Crean un nombre para el ring y una vez que se retiran cambian su nombre. Si se convierten en oyakata (entrenadores de establo), su nuevo nombre puede ser heredado por sus antiguos maestros de sumo, quienes también renuncian a sus nombres cuando se retiran.

🇺🇸 We met Hiro Morita who is the host of Sumo Prime Time, which is the official English language YouTube channel for sumo. We also got to meet stable master Shiranui Oyakata,formerly rikishi (sumo wrestler) Wakakoyu. We had so much fun!

Fun fact: According to sumo tradition, sumo wrestlers don’t use their real names. They create a ring name and once they retire they change their name. If they become oyakata (stable masters), their new name may be inherited from their former sumo stable masters, who also give up their names when they retire.
